Taos Herb Company’s mission since 1981 has always been to provide herbs, natural products and education on their use to empower people on their natural healing journey. All of our herbs are ethically sourced, including our White Sage. Taos Herb Company provides White Sage and other sacred herbs for ceremonies all over the world to people who cannot harvest it themselves and to incarcerated indigenous and First Nations people.
It is important to us that all of our herbs and products are harvested with prayer and ethics in mind. We love plants, we respect them, and we depend on them. Taos Herb Company and our trusted partners have been sustainably and ethically wild-crafting since 1981. We source our White Sage from two providers, one for ethically wild-crafted White Sage, and the other for our *NEW* certified organically cultivated White Sage. Learn about each provider and harvest practices below.
Wild Crafted White Sage:
Our wild-crafted White Sage is harvested ethically on private land in Southern California. Our team harvests this sacred plant with prayers for permission from the White Sage Spirit and with permission from the keepers of the land.
When White sage is collected properly it actually increases the growth of the plant so that we protect the supply into the future. By snipping just the leaf clusters, the secondary buds are stimulated and 2 clusters grow in its place.
Our White Sage Sticks come from the same land and people that provide our wild-harvested sage. Beautifully hand wrapped and wonderfully fragrant. Can be used for smoke cleansing or smudging for many different traditions.
Certified Organic White Sage, White Sage Essential Oil, and White Sage Mists:
Our new Cultivated Organic White Sage is grown on private land in California. It is certified Organic by the state of California. Like our wild crafted white sage, the cultivators also grow and harvest with prayer and respect to the plant.
Our White Sage Mist embodies the same vibration and beautiful aroma of the plant, without smoke. For use in hospitals, churches, or for homes or people who cannot tolerate smoke. It can be used in the same way as smoke cleansing or smudging.
